China: 20 people killed in fire at nursing home in China

A massive fire has broken out in China. A fire at a nursing home in northern China has killed 20 people . Authorities are trying to determine the cause of the fire. According to China's official Xinhua News Agency... The fire broke out at 9 pm local time on April 8 in the city of Chengde in Hebei province. Six hours after the fire broke out (around 3 am on April 9), authorities confirmed that 20 people had died.

The remaining residents of
the nursing home were evacuated to nearby hospitals for observation and treatment. To monitor the rescue efforts and provide aftercareHebei Province, Chengde CityAuthorities have sent teams of experts to the scene, Xinhua news agency reported.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire. Chinese state media said that the person who runs the nursing home where the fire occurred has been detained by police, but gave no details about the person.
