Hyderabad: Amid increasing central-state restrictions and encounters, Maoists are facing significant blows. Many Maoists have been killed in successive encounters, while others are surrendering. Recently, Kosa Protection Group Commander Vanjeem Kesha, a member of the Maoist Gattikoya Area Committee, surrendered before Warangal Police Commissioner Amber Kishore Jha. The Warangal Police Commissioner revealed the details of her surrender.

Vanjeem Kesha, the Kosa Protection Group's woman commander, hails from Rasapalli village in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. She was introduced to the Maoist party members through her work in the Chaitanya Natya Mandali during her childhood. In 2017, she joined the Maoist party through Pamed Lok Squad Commander Gotte Kamal. She worked for two years under Punnem Joga in the Chaitanya Natya Mandali. In the same year, she was transferred by party leadership to the Abujh Madu area and appointed as a member of the Kosa Protection Group under Central Committee member Kadari Satyanarayana Reddy. In April 2024, she assumed responsibilities as the Women's Commander of the Kosa Protection Group.

Vanjeem Kesha's father, Hidma, was also involved with the Maoists and is currently in prison. Warangal Police Commissioner confirmed that a government reward of 4 lakh rupees was announced for Kesha. During her time in the party, Kesha was involved in firing on police forces with Maoist members near Kohilabeda Police Station, resulting in the death of a police officer and severe injury to another. She is also a suspect in an incident where police officers were fired upon in the Abujhmad region, leading to the death of one officer.
