Modi: Why did Modi say to speak in Telugu?

Life changed with Mudra Yojana – AP woman

Prime MinisterOn the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Mudra Yojana, Several beneficiaries from across the country met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in Delhi. On this occasion, a woman from Andhra Pradesh narrated her inspiring success story before the Prime Minister. She said – “In 2019, I learned jute bag making under the training of Canara Bank and started a business with a Mudra loan. After paying regular installments, I got another large loan. Currently, I am providing employment to 15 women.” The Prime Minister not only encouraged her to speak in Telugu, but also congratulated and praised her. This incident stood as a testament to the empowerment of courageous women.

"Speak only in Telugu": Modi's encouragement

During a meeting with Modi, a woman from Andhra Pradesh said, “I don’t know Hindi.” Modi responded positively and encouraged her by saying, “It doesn’t matter, you speak Telugu.” This scene impressed people across the country. A leader at the level of the Prime Minister supporting a common woman to speak in her native language won the hearts of the people. Modi’s respect for language and generosity towards the common man were clearly reflected. Modi not only provided freedom of speech to that remote village woman, but also encouraged her and recognized the power of women in the country. This set a fitting example of a true people’s leader.

From training to self-employment

The woman said: “In 2019, I underwent 13 days of training in jute bag making at the Canara Bank Regional Training Center. After that training, I got a Mudra loan of Rs. 2 lakh from Canara Bank and started my own business in November of the same year. After starting the business, I paid every installment regularly. Recognizing my commitment, the bank officials sanctioned another loan of Rs. 9.5 lakh in 2022. With the help of these loans, I was able to expand my business. Currently, I have 15 women working for me. All of them are self-employed trainees.”

To unexpected success from the village

Currently, 15 housewives are working in the unit she has set up. All of them were trained by the Rural Self-Employment Center. It is truly inspiring that she, who once received training at the same center, has now reached the point of teaching other women.

Prime Minister Modi congratulated

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, upon hearing these details, praised her efforts. He said that the role of women is very crucial in the development of the country and that schemes like Mudra Yojana are bringing about a change in the lives of women.
