Shamshabad Airport is kicking up dust!

Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad, which stands as a pride for the city of Hyderabad, has once again proven its worth.This airport broke records across the country with its outstanding performance in the financial year 2024-25.It has recorded significant growth in passenger traffic, outperforming other major airports. A total of 2.13 crore passengers used the airport's services this year.

Top in the country with 15.20 percent growth

Shamshabad Airport recorded a growth of 15.20 percent by the end of the last financial year. This is the highest compared to other airports in the country. This significant increase in passenger numbers is a testament to the development of Hyderabad city and the rapid progress in the business and tourism sectors.

74 lakh passengers in three months

In the three-month period from January to March this year, the airport has created another impressive record. A total of 7.4 million passengers travelled through the airport in the final quarter. Shamshabad, which usually handles a maximum of 2 million passengers per month, has surpassed those expectations this time and reached new heights.

This growth has enabled RGIA to overtake airports in major cities like Chennai and Kolkata, indicating Hyderabad's growing position in the domestic aviation sector.

International Travel – Top Destinations

Hyderabad Airport also has a large number of flights to several international destinations. Notable among them are:

Dubai: Average 93,000 passengers per month

Doha: 42,000 people per month

Abu Dhabi: 38,000 people

Jeddah: 31,000 people

Singapore: 31,000 people

These figures clearly show that Hyderabad is the main destination for travelers to Gulf countries and South Asian destinations. There is an increase in foreign travel due to jobs, business, and family ties.

Three crore mark in the future

If the current growth continues, the number of passengers is likely to cross 3 crores by the next financial year i.e. 2025-26. This is truly a remarkable achievement. Along with domestic travel, expansion of international flights, and expansion of private carriers are the strong factors for this growth.
