The price of a dozen eggs was $2.04 (Rs. 175) in August 2023 and reached a high of $6.23 (Rs. 536) in March this year. The price has remained the same since then. January-February 2024: About 3 crore egg-laying chickens have been culled.
A total of 16.8 crore chickens (168 million) have been slaughtered as a precautionary measure so far.
